Talia Kredo is a Sydney-based artist whose practice centres on portraiture and the psychological experience of motherhood. Drawing upon her background as an art therapist, her work transforms intimate family photographs through strategies of layering and surreal colouration into paintings that channel the instability of matrescence as a threshold state. Oscillating between the private and the collective, the aesthetic and the truthful, the personal and the archetypal, her portraits seek to convey the emotional and social complexity of the contemporary maternal experience.
